I Sell Souls At The Side Of The Road
Hey guys,
How is life going?
Today night I met on my way home two annoying guys on the street. Now I'm asking myself what I could do to defend myself.
It was really really creepy. Okay, anyway.
The (first) most important band in my life? Die Ärzte.
They influenced me a lot in my life. Farin Urlaub taught me irony with his lyrics and interviews. Die Ärzte brought me to my passion for music. They were the first band for me, who really impressed me at the age of 12. I started to search information, bought posters (still got them on my wall), books and other merch... I wanted to be fiendishly clever like Farin, Bela and Rod. I loved their way to articulate and I shared the thoughts in their lyrics. It changed me alot and I became a great music fan! In my school I bothered my friends with all my information I found out... after a while they said "Please, shut up!" xD Sorry guys for being that annoying to this time. But they accepted my... hmm.. spleen. I also remember one story in our music lesson:
I had a great teacher! I forgot the context but I remember, that I complained why we can't referate about modern bands instead of contemporary musicians. I love Mozart and Beethoven - that's not the deal but I mean.. we all know the biography of them! By the way "Amadeus" is one of my favourite movies!!
So Mr. F. (teacher) was really open-minded and said "Okay.. but pleeeaaaaaaaseeee not Tokio Hotel!!" and I said "Uhm noo! I want to referate about Die Ärzte". He agreed.
I think I've never used so much material before in a referate: videos, CD-player, overhead projector, ... even memory cards xD and other stuff. My teacher was impressed. Fuck yeah!! :D
My mother was really bugged at the beginning and she didn't like Die Ärzte. Nowadays she's listening to them with pleasure!
Oh and I just can advice you the movie "Richy Guitar" with Bela, Sahnie (first bassist) and Farin. Lovely movie!

I adore Bela's Look from that time.
Some of my favourite songs:
Die Ärzte-Haar (album: Le Friseur)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECmOWqkfKHI
You know the musical "Hair".. I guess it's a cover version but I don't really know. I've never heard any song from the musical. The beginning of that song is.. hmm boring to me but you should wait till 1.24 min. Great song! I absolutely love the sound of the refrain!
Die Ärzte_Dos Corazones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqlE0Qn_FHQ&feature=relmfu
Another wonderful cover of a Spanish song sung by Rod.
Die Ärzte_Kopf Über In Die Hölle

Lovely guitar sound at the beginning and great lyrics.
Die Ärzte_Wie Am Ersten Tag

Wonderful song..
Die Ärzte_ Nichts In Der Welt

Pretty important song for me and a fucking great video. One of the best actually at least for me.
Die Ärzte_Rebell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWEDczZieC8&feature=related
Another important song for me. Listened alot to it in my childhood. ;)
Okay here I stop the list xD.. I could show you hundreds of other great songs.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and the music. Have a nice week!

Shit Gets Serious!!!
....
....
....
Hmm nope, actually not really but I like this phrase so I used it as appetizer.
What happened?
Nearly nothing. But I've done my last assignment. Now I can finally start to live or in the words of We Are The Ocean: "Go Now And Live!" I fucking will!
In the last months some pretty strange things happened in my life. But it is soo fucking true: in hard times the wheat seperates from the chaff. You see, what real friendship means. I love all of my friends, I know, that I always can count on them. It makes life soo much better .
Well... I have further song suggestions to make in this week.
Let me start with BRODY DALLE (The Distillers)
Her voice feels sooo right, when you're sucked up inside (what a rhyme, ha)
I'm listening to this song alot:
The Distillers_Hall Of Mirrors
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nclOYdxA9cM
Are you angry, sad or anything? Well, Brody will understand you! So bad, that this band doesn't exist anymore. I guess "Spinerette" is called Brody's new project.
The Pretty Reckless_Make Me Wanna Die
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh2Bai3gAoI
What a beautiful blond goth chic. I adore her look and voice (actually like Brody's).
Silverstein Feat. Lights_The End
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn9PTzcB3V4
Such a good duet!
Tool_The Pot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2F_hGwD26g
I'm listening to that song the whole year. It catches up to my mood! The video isn't the real music video but it fits so perfectly to this song.
Paddy Kelly_Pray Pray Pray
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TiHm40VTkI
Paddy Kelly. I think you all know this name because everybody knows this name assumed, that you're born in the early 90s. I can't understand all those prejudices against "The Kelly Family". They made so much different styles of music and had soo much success. I owe them an awesome childhood, spending summers with traveling to concerts in different countries. Paddy has a great voice. In my opinion he should write more rock songs xD ... but this song here's also great.
Thanks for reading, lovebirds!

Don't surrender
Crashed down from heavenly lane,
To the hardest bottom; with a loss
The storm inside blusters like a Hurricane
Disappointed you stare at the holy Cross
You can't believe this is true
Everything is in a mess
You don't see how to make it through
And you are caught in sadness
You suffer, you suffer
And the pain gets deeper
You suffer, you suffer
You turn into a weeper
You close your eyes and
While you're sleeping
Tears run down your face
You wish there was another hand
To caress your shoulder fleeting
Waiting for it's owner to embrace
So much thoughts, you can't concentrate
And your sinews start to bate
You don't know where to go, 'cause no one is there
It feels like nobody does really care
You suffer, you suffer
And the pain gets deeper
You suffer, you suffer
You turn into a weeper
That's a lie, you know it well
Friends are there, I can tell
That they all can hear your yelp
You just need to accept their help
Head up high
To the sky
Start everyday with a smile
When it's hard
you must restart
And go on with a further try

Wrong Choice, Right Decision
There was you but without me
We all know the same old story
And there was me without you
Shitty feeling, that is true
I must accept, that I've no chance
I felt this feeling at first glance
It took me over a year to see
That my wish won't come to reality
And one day I'll get over it
But I'm not ready, at least not yet
It tears me apart, it still beats me down
And it makes me doubt; it makes me frown
Times are hard but I am strong
I start anew and get along
I've got my way to drown the pain
Heading for sun I'll leave the rain
There was you but without me
We all know the same old story
And there was me without you
Shitty feeling, that is true
I'll get over it and I give my best
To pull this feeling out of my chest
Yeah it hurts but it's okay
Take good care, I go away

As Long As I Got Chords...
Hey lovebirds,
Autumn is back! :) Reason enough to introduce you to hmm.. how shall I describe it... hmm...
A GREAT, KICK-ASS, STAGGERING, ROCKING German punkrock band ...
yeah...maybe that works...
The name of this band is Itchy Poopzkid. First of all I wanna constate, that this name is not stupid. Actually it's really brilliant! I mean there are a lot of those "The ..pla pla" and so on. See, on placards are lots of bands named playing on any festival and there is this one name and it's just eye-catching like "uhh.. what an awkward name!" .. and I mean they founded a punkrock band.. so they could give a fuck about their name.
As often the title of this blog here is the title of a certain songtext. Hmm.. my story about this song is, that I actually was bored to listen to that song. Therefore I have to say, that I can't stand listening to slower songs. But damn me! This song has such a beautiful message! Last year I traveled 7 hours by train with my best friend to that "Ten Years Of Tightness"-concert in Southern Germany. Of course we had a blast there.. it was absolutely great! Panzer (bassist, vocals) played his song "As Long As I Got Chords" and after that I began to love that song because this message fits exactly to my thoughts about life and music. Great song.
Itchy Poopzkid was founded nearly 10 years ago (now it's a bit longer) in their hometown Eislingen an der Fils near by Stuttgart. Their first drummer Saikov sadly left the band but Max, an old friend of Sibbi (guitar, vocals), Panzer and Saikov, took the empty seat behind the drumkit. Often it's hard for a new member to get introduced to the long-time fans but I think Max has been accepted since the beginning of his career with Itchy Poopzkid.
The lyrics of them are ironic, serious, funny, critical and sad as well. They actually don't write political songs but "Why Still Bother" was written for an animal welfare-campaign called "Sonar Sucks". This song balances accounts with our blinder-society and asks cynically: "Why still bother, when we all ignore each other?" . I think it fits to the whole modern society and not only to our wrong behaviour toward animals. It has a great metal-punk-sound to my mind but I'm really no expert in describing any music genres.. it's just my opinion about that song.
In one of there songs they even used a supermarket trolley as kinda drumkit. Well..this is somehow a kind of art xD. Maybe this can be called as "real industrial punk". As you can see they sing English lyrics. In interviews they were often asked, why. I ask myself, why somebody asks that question. I mean.. why not? What a question is that? It's like "Heyy Van Gogh.. why do you use exactly those colours?" or something like that. Well.. maybe I can't see the aim of this question. You?
Next to their music I enjoyed to watch their self-produced youtube-videos. Some of you may know Criss Angel aka The Mindfreak. Itchy Poopzkid made a nice parody about him in some of their studio diaries and other stuff.
Their live-shows are amazing.. okay.. often Panzer gets hurt and nearly breaks his legs but you still have the feeling on an Itchy-concert, that making music is still their passion. I think in the last years they've developed to an important rockband in Germany. They have some nice Charts-placements and go touring through foreign countries in Eastern and Western Europe. By the way... their answer on that language-question is, that they write English songs to get access to foreign stages. But yeah.. i don't think, that someone decides to write in a certain language to have more chances anywhere. Hmm maybe I'm wrong. Dunno.
At the end of this little introduction I try to name my favourites
Pretty Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcbNpYvIs84&feature=related
Why Still Bother
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1KLwyaI5Tw (Mind the sonar noise at the beginning, guys!)
Flavour Of The Night
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt893xANw_4
Pretty cool song!
As Long As I Got Chords (in concert)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8N45Dl-SN8
This was the concert I have been to and where I changed my mind about this song.
Well.. I've got all LP's of them and I love to listen to all of their songs. Normally I rarely do this but with Itchy Poopzkid I don't get bored. Their music is so vital.
Okay, lovebirds I'll end this blog with some nice verses from the last song:
"When the heads are hanging low
I still got my stereo
It plays loud from 9 to 5
And it will keep me alive
Just a simple melody
It means everything to me
And again I got no choice
I breath in and raise my voice"
(Itchy Poopzkid)
That's all, my dears :)
